The Bristol Restoration Show 2012
Featuring
‘The ‘Original’ Roger Moore TV Saint Car – 71 DXC
(Footman James Classic Restoration Show –3rd-4th November, 2012)
It was busy, busy, busy at this year’s Bristol Restoration Show where Club Members Simon Biddlecomb and Chris Tye joined Colin & Robert Hughes and Kevin Price to finish the epic rebuild of the ‘Original’ 1962 Roger Moore TV Saint Volvo P1800 - 71 DXC aka ST 1.
The car had been collected for a temporary visit to the show from Richard Felton of Specialist Upholstery in Doncaster, who had been undertaking the complete refurbishment of the car’s interior upholstery and trims.
Simon and Chris were soon hard at work on the Saturday morning as the show opened, fitting the Chrome Nose and Grille, which had previously been repaired & rechromed by S&T Chrome Plating and Powder coated silver grille by Redditch Shotbaster & Powder Coating. This was followed by the final fitting of the rear newly chromed bumpers and powder coated bumper irons. Kevin, Robert and Colin were kept busy with a flood of visitor’s eager to hear the story of probably the most famous Volvo 1800’s rebirth and other membership and technical queries.
Sunday morning arrived and we were greeted with a Winter Wonderland – heavy snow during the early morning, showered the showground with 4” of snow! Concerned that this would frighten prospective visitors with their Classic Cars was unfounded, with bumper crowds of visitors with their Classic’s attending, the snow being soon melted with heavy rain.
Work during Sunday continued on the Saint’s P1800 and by early afternoon the final pieces of outer trim were fitted, complete with ST 1 and 71 DXC Numberplates.
Many thanks to all those who attended and helped man/work on the display, we look forward to a return visit to the Showground for the Great Western Autojumble 9th -10th February 2013 and the 34th Bristol Classic Car Show 20th -21st April, 2013, where we will be displaying the finished ‘Original’ Roger Moore Saint Car 71 DXC with other members cars. – Look forward to seeing you there. |
